Photography Training - Three hours session
Embark on your photography journey with a personalised one-on-one beginner's photography course designed to help you build confidence and master the basics in a relaxed, friendly, and engaging environment. This course equips you with the essential knowledge and skills to practice effectively, setting a foundation for your photographic endeavours. If you wish, you can build upon this experience later by progressing to an intermediate course.
During this one-hour session, you'll explore key concepts, including:
Camera Settings: Develop a solid understanding of your camera’s manual settings, enabling you to take control of your photography. Learn how to adjust exposure, which determines the brightness of your image by balancing aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.
Master shutter speed to control motion, whether freezing fast-moving action or creating artistic motion blur.
Learn ISO to manage your camera’s sensitivity to light, allowing you to capture well-exposed images even in challenging lighting conditions. Understand white balance to ensure accurate colour representation, whether shooting in natural sunlight, indoor lighting, or mixed light sources.
By combining these settings, you’ll discover how to adapt to various situations—from capturing sharp, vivid images in daylight to achieving a soft, atmospheric effect in low light.
Lighting - Time permitting, and depending on your current experience level, we’ll explain the principles of effective lighting to help you achieve the best photographic results. You’ll learn how light direction, intensity, and quality impact the mood, depth, and overall look of your photos. Discover the difference between natural light and artificial light, soft light and hard light and how to use each effectively.
Composition: Composition is the art of arranging elements within a frame to create visually pleasing and impactful photographs. In this session, we’ll introduce you to a widely used guideline, often referred to as the rule of thirds, along with its variations. You’ll learn how to apply this principle to position your subject or key elements harmoniously, achieving balance and a sense of proportion in your images. We’ll discuss the visual effect this creates and how it helps guide the viewer’s eye to the focal point of your photo.
Time permitting we’ll also delve into composition for diffferent genre such as portrait photography, food photography and landscape photography.
Creativity - We will guide you through the steps that will make your photographs more exciting, and enable you to see the world through a photographer’s eyes.
Lenses - The use of appropriate lenses for different situations. Lenses are potentially one of the most expensive parts of photography. We’ll discuss what lenses might be suitable for different genres, and how to get the best out of the lens or lenses you already have.
Other equipment - We’ll cover other equipment (such as tripod, filters etc.) that you will need, to help you through your photographic journey.
