In July this year I had a request to visit the team at Milestone supermarket in Rathfriland to discuss an upcoming food photo shoot in September.

I love it when clients plan carefully in advance of the shoot, especially as this one turned out to be a three day shoot photographing not only Milestone products but also the delicious food of Loft 52 restaurant situated above the Supermarket.

The brief for the photo shoot was to photograph a wide range of food that Milestone offer their customers throughout the year, including the bakery products, the festive foods, and their range of ready meals. A few days before the photo shoot we were provided with a long list of Milestone requirements and also Loft 56’s wide range of dishes, which also included their Christmas and party food. The list was daunting, but with hard work from ourselves and all the team at Milestone and Loft 56 we managed to photograph all the dishes within three days.

The photoshoot satrted with photographing many of Milestone delicious bakery products. I love photograping bakey as it can all be prepared in advance and we can get through many shots reasonably quickly.

In the afternoon of the first day we had a lot of fun working with the bar staff and the chefts at Loft 56, photographing their party food and drinks. The Loft 56 team were brilliant at styling their party food and they looked so delicious . A few nibbles after the shoot proved that they tasted as good as they looked!

Day one was finished with the satisfaction that we had completed all the tasks for that day. The second day included photographing pizzas and Christmas food for Loft 56, followed by lots of delicious pastry and pies from Milestone. I absolutely loved the buzz of the kitchen and the pride both Milestone and Loft 56 were taking, delivering me lots of their beautiful food to photograph.

Photograping Loft 56 Christmas food was a delight. All the food looked and smelt amazing and has encouraged us to book a pre-Christmas lunch at Loft 56.

Milestone offer their customers the most amazing party cakes, and their pastry chef is one of the most modest, talented people I have worked with. We had a lot of fun styling the set for the colourful cakes below.

On the final day, we photographed lots of ready meals, more Christmas food and a number of party foods. As well as photography, I also do all the set styling and have a lot of input in food styling, working with the chefs to ensure all the food looks great before photographing it. I was really pleased how effectively we all worked together to bring this very enjoyable food photoshoot together. This was a really impressive, cooperative team to work with.
