Photographing Enniskillen Castle Museums

Recently we were commissioned by Kriterion Conservation Architects of Belfast to photograph their work on the redevelopment of the museums at Enniskillen Castle. This was a very interesting project, requiring the need to subtly combine the old with the new, both in terms of structure and function, along with careful consideration of materials and scale. The creation of the new building and restoration of those adjoining has provided a very attractive and useful improvement to the built environment of central Enniskillen.

For us, it was a real pleasure spending a long day on site, photographing internally and externally, endeavoring to capture the essentials of the new design and restoration. Not least among the prominent features of the work carried out was the external lighting which we were requested to be sure to photograph. This required staying on until the ‘blue hour’ and this was well rewarded by the opportunities presented for photographing both the effects of the external lights and the building at night generally.

This was a satisfying day’s shoot, considerably helped by better weather than anticipated! It is anticipated that some of the images will appear in a forthcoming edition of ‘Perspective’ magazine.

We would like to thanks the staff at Enniskillen Castle Museums for being so helpful, guiding and accommodating us throughout the day.
