Jewellery Photography for Dian Sutherland

A few weeks ago I was so delighted when Diane Sutherland, a talented jeweller from Belfast walked to my studio and said "It was a no-brainer that I chose you to photograph my jewellery".

After the shoot, when Diane came to collect her jewellery she was very pleased with the result and said "The photos look even better than I had imagined".

Comments like these make me believe that it is worthwhile going that extra mile to provide my clients with photographs that showcase their work at their best. Designer makers work very hard at their craft and no matter what type of product I am photographing, I always intend to represent the quality and the craftsmanship of the work I've been trusted to photograph.

Diane Sutherland's work came about as the result of our ongoing contract with Craft NI, to provide product photography for their directory. It is great to be associated with Craft NI as they are very supportive of the designer-makers in Northern Ireland.

Often, jewellery by it's nature looks flat when photographed. When photographing these beautiful pieces of jewellery, I felt that the photographs needed something to give them more depth. By creating shapes and shadows around the jewellery I've framed the jewellery and I think the images look quite three dimensional.
